Chimchar is a Fire-type Pokémon whom's appearance is similar to a baby chimpanzee. They are orange-shaded, with a flame covering its rear-end, similar to a tail. Chimchars are very agile, and can scale craggy mountains with ease. When going to sleep, they extinguish the fire on their behind, preventing a dangerous fire. They evolve into Monferno at level 14 and Infernape 22 levels later. They first appear in the Generation IV games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
